Director of Rugby; Men’s Head Coach – Joshua Macy (413.205.3804)
Coach Macy began his rugby career at second row for James Madison University. Shortly after graduating with a degree in Recreation Studies, he played for men’s clubs in Virginia and Texas. He later moved to Guatemala where he started the country’s first club team, assisted in the formation of its first league and was the first captain of the national team–los Jaguares. He’s been a full time coach at AIC since August of 2009 and started the men’s and women’s rugby programs there.
Head Women’s Coach – Melanie Denham (413.205.3701)
Coach Denham graduated from Bridgewater State University and spent most of her playing career as a loose forward, captain, and executive board member for Beantown Women’s Rugby Club. She earned her first cap for the women’s national team in 2008 and played in the 2010 Women’s World Cup. Before Coach Denham joined AIC, she coached at Harvard for two years. In this time the team won a division II national championship and moved up to division I.
Women’s Back Line Coach – Evan Hoese
Hoese graduated from Harvard University in 2011, and was captain of the team coached by Mel Denham that won the DII National Championship. She was named MVP of the championship and a Collegiate All-American. In 2010 and 2011, Hoese was captain of the U23 Northeast select side. After joining Beantown Rugby Club in 2012, she attended a USA 7s camp at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center and the Eagles Top 60 training camp in 2013. Currently, Hoese is the captain and an outside center for Beantown Rugby Club.
